Barbados is definitely an island offers more than luscious beaches and rum-based drinks. venture into the rolling countryside and you will discover a picture-perfect miniature Britain - tropical style.

Located quite isolated in the Atlantic Ocean, Barbados has two distinct different faces. On the west coast, powdery beaches line the tranquil Caribbean Sea, while on the east coast, the ocean surf pounds relentlessly on the rocky shores.

Barbados measures 430 sq km (166 sq m) and got its name in 1536 from the Portuguese explorer Pedro Campos. Not long thereafter, the Spanish landed on Barbados using most of the local Carib  inhabitants as slaves. The British arrived in 1620 and ever since Barbados has seen many British influences, like the national sport of cricket.
