Malaga

Spain

An early morning view of Malaga from the balcony on Regatta. It will be an early morning if you have opted to go to the Alhambra today!

Work on building the complex containing a fortress, palace and mosque for Muhammed Ibn Al Ahmar began in 1248 and lasted until 1354.  The Alhambra was changed by the Christians after 1492 and it was not until the 19th century that restoration work began, bringing the Alhambra back to its original Moorish state.

The manicured gardens of the Generalife (or Summer Palace) are a highlight of any visit to Granada.

The Palacio del Partal is the oldest structure in the Alhambra.

We have no problem seeing visions of medieval sultans sitting on brightly colored cushions in the Salon de Embajadores, built between 1334 and 1354 and featuring a ceiling with the seven heavens of the Islamic cosmos.

Perched on a rock in the middle of Granada, the Alhambra boasts fabulous views of the old part of town. All too soon it is time to board the coaches for the drive back to Malaga.
