Palma de Mallorca photos

It takes about 30 minutes to walk from the cruise ship dock to Palma's city center. When the morning sun is out, it's great to follow the walkway along the marina for a glimpse of the yachts of the rich & famous. Stop for a "cafe cortado" along the way! Photo © 2003 Bart de Boer

The Passeig de Sagrera is a tree lined boulevard lined with historic buildings that clearly show the Moorish influence in this region. Photo © 2003 Bart de Boer

Palma's famous La Seu cathedral towers over the city. The existing christian cathedral was built on the site of an Arab mosque. Work started in 1229 but the church wasn't finished until 1601. Photos © 2003 Bart de Boer

The city center of Palma de Mallorca is easy to explore on foot. Pictured above are the City Hall and the Arab Baths. Photos © 2003 Bart de Boer

There is much more to the island of Mallorca than Palma. If you take the trouble to venture beyond the capital city, you will see why Mallorca is such a popular European vacation destination. On the southwest side of the island is the picture-perfect bay of Cala d'Or, chock a block with yachts. Take a swim, sip sangria and enjoy. This is Spain at its best! Photo © 2008 Bart de Boer
