If you are curious to see how St. Thomas would look without the hordes of tourists, visit neighboring St. Croix instead. Here, you will find no mega taxfree markets
or traffic jams. St. Croix is remarkably relaxed and laid back. Your cruise ship will dock at Frederiksted, boasting glorious beaches but not much more. On the pier,
you can buy tickets for the shuttle buses that run across the island to the quaint capital Christiansted. An intriguing combination of tropical charm and European
heritage, Christiansted has a great setting and is home to a beautifully restored Danish fortress. And if you like snorkeling and diving, don't miss Buck Island Reef National
Monument. |
