The coastline to
the south of Castries gives way to numerous caves and inlets
that are like tropical havens - at one time very popular with
pirates! Photo © 2008 Bart de Boer |

Caribbean
paradise! Unlike many other Caribbean islands, St. Lucia does
not solely depend on tourism which adds to its
appeal. Photo © 2008 Bart de Boer |

A very good way to
appreciate St. Lucia's stunning scenery is to book an
excursion by catamaran to Soufrière, with the return trip to
the ship by coach. Photo © 2008 Bart de Boer |

Some parts of St.
Lucia seem like a cross between the South Pacific and
South-East Asia. This picture was taken near Soufrière and
shows the beauty of the island. Did we hear someone say
"Pirates of the Caribbean"? Highlight of any visit
to St. Lucia will be a visit to the town of Soufrière, nestled
in the shadow of the Piton mountains. Great for diving and
snorkeling, the area is also very lush and picture-perfect.
Forget all about the "drive-in volcano", but be sure to visit
the Botanical Gardens and the black sand beaches of Anse
Chastanet. Photo © 2008 Bart de Boer |
