Some cruises
start out perfectly. Having finished all check-in
paperwork online from the comfort of our homes, we arrive by taxi
at the San Pedro pier around 1 PM. We hand over our luggage,
walk in and are directed to the online check-in line. The
good thing: there is no line!
Within 10 minutes after arriving at the pier we
set foot
on
Infinity,
our home for the next two weeks. |

Infinity's throbbing heart is its elegant three deck
high Grand Foyer. Similar to the ones found on her sister
ships, this hotel-like lobby features a beautiful backlit
onyx grand staircase and a pleasing, restful ambiance.
During embarkation, there is live music and
uniformed staff are available to escort passengers to their
cabins. |

An hour or so before departure,
the emergency signal sounds and we are all expected out on deck at our lifeboat
station for the emergency drill. Then, a blast on the horn signals the start of
our transoceanic voyage east. As the sun sets and the evening fog rolls in from
the Pacific, Infinity sets course for Hawaii. |
