When the sun sets, Costa Atlantica really comes to life. Before dinner, guests may head to the cozy Via Veneto Lounge on La Dolce Vita Deck (2). Giant black and white photos of movie scenes and a well-chosen color scheme create a feeling of intimacy in this room that otherwise serves as the main thoroughfare between the Atrium and the main Dining Room. The Via Veneto Lounge features a nice bar, small dance floor and is the place for live music nightly.

Occupying the same space as the Via Veneto Lounge one deck up on La Strada Deck (3) is the Paparazzi Lounge, which sports a similar layout and color scheme, but because of its garish and cheap looking furniture it fails to make a lasting impression. The same can not be said for the elegant and inviting Piazza Madama Butterfly. Designed as an open-plan lounge with a large bar and equally large wooden dance floor, this room has a slight Oriental touch, most noticeable in the bar area. There, angry looking geisha's seem to look very critical at the array of liquor bottles that are on display. In the middle of the Piazza, a grand granite staircase leads up to the Caffe Florian. At the time of my visit, the Plexiglas-enclosed "waterfall" that seems to tumble down from the star-studded ceiling was almost invisible and in dire need of a thorough clean up!

Directly adjacent to the Piazza Madama Butterfly  you will find two quiet, enclosed card rooms with further card tables available in a attractive semi-open areas leading to the Casino. In complete contrast to the rather subdued look of the former space, the Casino Fortuna is lavishly over-decorated in a Romanesque style. I like the inlaid wooden dance floor, complete with seating area and large bar - it somehow makes the room more than "just" a gambling hall.

When you are all done gambling, why not dance the night away in Costa Atlantica's wild Discoteca Dante? Spread over two decks, you actually enter the disco via the Via Veneto Lounge aft on La Dolce Vita Deck (2). A glittering black granite circular stairway then leads you to the dance floor on deck 1. Despite the imaginative layout, the decor here is minimal  - not really inspiring. But ... at night when DJ Beppe spins the records until late, who cares about decor?
