Constellation - Rendez-Vous Lounge & San Marco Restaurant

On Celebrity's smaller Century-class vessels three different design teams were each given responsibility for the dining room on any of the three sister ships, resulting in as many decidedly different dining room interiors. Too bad Celebrity decided to not repeat this novel approach to dining room design on their Millennium-class ships.

Designed by Birch Coffey, the two-deck San Marco Restaurant is Constellation's main dining room and despite the use of different colors the space looks like a copy/paste exercise from previous sister ships. With a beautiful grand staircase, bouquets of fresh flowers, immaculately set tables and a beautifully illuminated ceiling, the San Marco Restaurant is elegant and well designed. It also happens to be very big! With up to 2,500 guests accommodated in two traditional dinner seatings, you should not expect an intimate dining experience. Despite Celebrity Cruises' luxury image, space between tables is rather tight and there are only a handful of  tables for two. Still, the food served here is typically of a very high standard and is what made Celebrity Cruises rightfully famous.

The first public room after leaving the San Marco Restaurant on Promenade Deck is the Rendez-Vous Lounge, which sports an inviting, colorful decor that makes this room one of the most attractive on the ship in my opinion. In an effort to save costs, entertainment here is shared with the Martini and Champagne Bars up on Entertainment Deck. Leading to the amidships stairwell and Grand Foyer is a a very attractive, window-lined area with some cozy, semi-secluded seating and a slightly more subdued atmosphere.
