Originally intended for Costa Cruises, the 113,300 ton Carnival Splendor
is a one-off in the Carnival fleet and the first Fun Ship to
feature a glass-covered main pool. This Carnival diva
started her career in the summer of 2008 on a series of
Baltic Sea cruises from Dover. She spent autumn in the Med
before crossing the Atlantic to Miami. From there, she set off
to the U.S. East Coast. Since she is too large to pass through
the Panama Canal, she is Carnival's first-ever ship to
circumnavigate South America. We visited Carnival Splendor
in July, 2008 during a call at Amsterdam, Netherlands. |
