Queen Victoria - Cunard Line - cruise ship review and photos

Hemispheres
Hemispheres

Up on deck 10, we enter Hemispheres. This is a disco with a capital D. A giant chandelier looms over the equally giant dance floor, with windows on three sides letting in light.

Hemispheres is a cleverly designed room as it can be used in a multitude of ways during the day. Think dance classes, presentations, cocktail parties and private functions...

But it is at night that Hemispheres really comes to life. With a look that is slightly more modern than the rest of the ship, this room is sure to attract the young at heart.

One deck down and we enter Spa country. A "Royal" Spa no less, operated by (who else) Steiner Leisure. The Spa complex consists of a forward-facing fitness center and aerobics area full of mind-boggling machinery.

There are numerous treatment rooms, a hair salon, thermal suite, a small but stylish relaxation room and the elegant Hydropool area. Cunard have carbon-copied this feature from Holland America's Vista-class ships where it is located in the exact same location, adjacent to the Pool Deck.

Occupying the forward end of deck 10 is the glass-walled Commodore Club, Queen Victoria's panorama lounge and sophisticated late night spot.

A large bar takes up center stage, with a grand piano close by to ensure a jolly good evening. The deep blue carpeting and beige and red furniture make this a very attractive room.

With walls of glass on three side, views are of course spectacular and the Commodore Club will be very popular once Queen Victoria transits the Panama Canal, the Suez Canal or any other canal for that matter.

On starboard side close to the Commodore Club are two exquisite hideaways. First up is the window-walled Admiral's Lounge, which is perfect for private cocktail parties.

Next door is Churchill's Cigar Lounge with its humidors and oversized black and white photo of Winston himself.
