Happy New Year! One of the best places to celebrate the arrival of the New Year is on the Atlantic island of Madeira. On New Year's Eve, cruise ships traditionally congregate in the port of Funchal. Then, at the stroke of Midnight, tons of fireworks light up the sky over Funchal. This year, a record 12 cruise ships visited Funchal. Also present were Black Watch, Van Gogh, Aurora, Thomson Destiny, The World, AIDAdiva, Saga Ruby, Saga Rose and Costa Serena.
